Die Idee des Fotomarathons hat in den letzten Jahren einen Siegeszug um die Welt angetreten. Berlin hat den Fotomarathon in Deutschland bereits 1998 begründet. Seit 2013 ist auch Düsseldorf Teil dieser kreativen Treffen von Fotografierenden – und damit der traditionsreichste Fotomarathon Nordrhein-Westfalens.
Der Fotomarathon Düsseldorf ist Teil des Netzwerks der Fotomarathons in Deutschland, in dem sich alle Fotomarathons an diesen Grundsätzen orientieren:
Ein Fotomarathon ist unabhängig und nicht auf Gewinnerzielung ausgelegt (non profit).
Er ist offen für alle Fotobegeisterten, der Teilnehmer steht im Mittelpunkt.
Die Individualität der jeweiligen Stadt behält ihren Raum und Charme.
Der Fotomarathon ist gleichermaßen Herausforderung, Spass und Social Event.
